Ashok to meet Naveen

CHENNAI: Ashok (KTC) will meet Naveen (Madras Club) in the singles final of the Turbo Energy-markers tennis tournament at Krishnan Tennis Centre on Sunday. Ashok and Shanmugam (KTC) won the doubles title.

The results: Singles: Semifinals: Ashok (KTC) bt Balaji (Guru Nanak) 6-0, 6-3; Naveen (Madras Club) bt Issac (Ransa) 6-4, 4-6, 7-5.

Doubles: Final: Ashok & Shanmugam (KTC) bt Balaji (Guru Nanak) & Yesu (Gandhi Nagar) 6-4, 6-3.

Gurubaskar shines

P. Gurubaskar’s all-round show was the highlight of Sri Venkateswara Engineering College’s thrilling six-wicket win over Dr. Sivanthi Aditanar College of Engineering in a quarterfinal match of the SSN college State-level engineering college cricket tournament being held here.

The scores: Quarterfinals: Dr. Sivanthi Aditanar CE 136 for seven in 20 overs (C. Ramkumar 41, P. Solomon 46, P. Gurubaskar four for 28) lost to Sri Venkateswara EC 140 for four in 20 overs (P. Gurubaskar 73 n.o., Siddarth 44).

SSN CE 154 for five in 20 overs (S. Arvind 80 n.o., Sriram Sridaran 43) bt Vel Srinivasa CE 104 for six in 20 overs (Karthikeyan 28, Chandrasekar 36 n.o., Darminsha three for 20).

Wipro ‘A’ posts wins

Wipro ‘A’ team won both its matches in Group ‘A’ of the inter-corporate table tennis tournament being organised by the SDAT Chandra TT Academy.

The results: Group ‘A’: Wipro ‘A’ bt Sak Soft ‘A’ 3-0; Wipro ‘A’ bt Vaishnav 3-0; Group ‘B’: Indian Oil Corporation ‘A’ bt Pulsian Industries 3-0; Cognizant ‘B’ bt Bharathi ‘A’ 3-1; Group ‘C’: Trimble bt Sak Soft ‘B’ 3-0; Wipro ‘B’ bt Bharathi ‘B’ 3-1; Group ‘D’: Cognizant ‘A’ bt Indian Oil Corporation ‘B’ 3-0.

ANCA camp

Anna Nagar Chess Academy (ANCA) is to conduct a summer camp for boys and girls (5-15 years age group) from April 14 onwards at its premises at 1983/ 30, 15th main Road, Anna Nagar West.
