One killed, 10 hurt in accident

THENI: S. Karnan, Inspector, Dindigul south police station, was killed on the spot and 10 others, including two accused and eight police personnel, were injured when their jeep dashed against a rock and overturned near ‘S’ bend on Bodimettu ghat road near here on Sunday.

The injured Gurunathan and Karunanidhi, both accused in a case, Sub-Inspectors Ganesan and Madasamy, and constables Azhagarsamy, Gopal, Rajasekar, Nadarajan, Nallathambi and Perumal, were treated at Bodi Government Hospital.

The accident took place when the jeep driver lost its control near a deep curve on the ghat road. The police team was returning to Dindigul from Munnar after an investigation in a case.
