Youth’s murder: family members held

Staff Reporter

BERHAMPUR: Irritated by the misdeeds of a drunkard youth, his family members allegedly murdered him at Sikiri village under Hinjli police station, police said.

The you was Tukuna Pradhan (24). He was terrorising his family members in a drunken state. On Saturday his body was recovered in a decomposed state from a drain near the village. Police investigation hinted at involvement of family members in the murder. Interrogation revealed that his father, Debendra Pradhan, mother Hadi Pradhan, sister Manjula, his two brothers, Hari and Shankar, had allegedly killed him. Police arrested all of the accused except the father, Debendra, who is absconding.

Tukuna was married and also had a child. It was alleged that every night he was beating up his family members in a drunken state and was also selling off the valuables at their home.

This allegedly led to the “drastic decision” by his family members.
