BHUBANESWAR: After a judge of the Orissa High Court opted for voluntary retirement from his service to contest elections, a retired district judge here on Sunday put a step forward to float his own political party. At a meeting here, former District Judge of Bolangir Umacharan Mishra sought cooperation from presidents of different district bar councils. “The exercise of consultation will ultimately lead to formation of a political party with a possible name, ‘Manav Vadi Gariba Bandhu Dala’. We want to ensure the election process to be free from the influence of money and muscle,” Mr. Mishra said. Even as mainstream political parties were avoiding giving 33 per cent reservation to women, the former judge declared that 50 per cent of party’s candidates would be women. He also favoured 50 per cent reservation for women in jobs. He constituted a social forum called ‘Orissa Viswakalyan Sangha’. Mr. Mishra’s case was not isolated one in political landscape of the State.
