Chandigarh: The Bharatiya Kisan Union on Sunday said it would stage a protest here on Wednesday against the Centre’s decision to ban the sale of wheat to private traders in Punjab and Haryana. “The ban denies farmers their fundamental rights to sell their wheat to any one they like. This will give a monopoly to FCI,” BKU president Bhupinder Singh Mann said. He said the Centre’s ban on sale of wheat to private traders would add to the debt burden of farmers and weigh more then the loan waiver announced for the two states.
