LUCKNOW: Senior IAS officer Neera Yadav, who was “removed” as Chairperson of the Uttar Pradesh IAS Association by a “group” of bureaucrats on Wednesday, has quit the service. Voluntary retirementShe sought voluntary retirement and her request has been accepted by the State Government. Chief Minister’s Principal Secretary Shailesh Krishna confirmed that Ms. Yadav’s request had been accepted by the Government. Posted as Chairperson of the U.P. Vigilance and Administration Commission, Ms. Yadav was due to retire on July 1. She cited “personal reasons” for her decision to opt for voluntary retirement. The 1971 batch IAS officer had earlier served as Chief Secretary during the tenure of Chief Minister Mulayam Singh but was removed from the post on the directives of the Supreme Court. Ms. Yadav was nominated chairman of the UP IAS Association by virtue of being the senior-most bureaucrat in the State. EstablishmentShe and the general secretary of the Association, Sanjay Bhoosreddy, were “removed” from their posts by the “group” of officers, allegedly close to the ruling establishment. UP Board of Revenue chairman Vinod Kumar Malhotra and Lucknow District Magistrate Chandra Bhanu were “nominated” as chairman and general secretary, respectively, of the IAS Association.
