POLLACHI: Minister for Forests, N. Selvaraj, on Sunday distributed seven power tillers, each costing Rs.1.48 lakh, to seven tribal settlements in Indira Gandhi Wildlife Sanctuary to carryout agricultural activities under the Tribal Development Scheme.

At a function at Sarkarpathi, Mr. Selvaraj distributed solatium to the victims who had survived attack by wild animals. He gave Rs. 20,000 each to eight victims in Valparai besides Rs. 2,500 for a tea shop owner.

The Minister also distributed 10 sets of colour television to the tribals at Kozhikamuthi and Erumaipparai settlements.

Responding to a plea by the tribals, Mr. Selvaraj asked the officials to provide oil motors for drinking water supply to all the settlements inside the sanctuary. K.R. Varadharajan, Wildlife Warden of the Indira Gandhi Wildlife Sanctuary and National Park and several officials participated.
