Staff Reporter

Logo has been prepared; society to be registered

Krishnagiri: The mango pulp industry is scheduled to enter the market under a single brand name called Krishma, said Collector Santhosh Babu.

Remunerative prices

Inaugurating a one-day cluster development programme organised by MSME – Development institute, Chennai, and Krishnagiri District Micro Small Scale Industries Association, he said that a logo had been prepared and the society would be registered under the Societies Registration Act.

Krishma would have full-fledged infrastructure and would provide remunerative prices for farmers and mango pulp producers.

He said that there was sufficient scope for developing the granite cutting and polishing industry and dairy-based industries in the district.

Self-help groups would be roped in under the cluster development initiative. The proposed Special Economic Zone and Information Technology Park coming up in Hosur would provide direct and indirect employment to more than 15,000 persons.

An amount of Rs.155 crore had been allocated for financing micro and small-scale industries in the district in the current fiscal, Mr. Babu added.

Competitiveness

Explaining the salient features of cluster development initiative, Assistant Director, MSME, A. Muthuvenkatappan, said that the units could improve their capabilities and competitiveness under the cluster mode.

The under-cutting of prices could be avoided by forming cartel type consortiums. This would ensure a manifold increase in production paving the way for further expansion.

Ekambavanan, Director, Pallavan Grama Bank, and vice-president, KRIDSTIA, stressed on cluster approach for the development of fruit processing, granite and auto components industries.

He called upon banks to finance micro and small-scale industries under the cluster development programme.
