Centre’s ineptitude exposed: Pinarayi

Special Correspondent

Delay in sending Central team

Thiruvananthapuram: Communist Party of India (Marxist) State secretary Pinarayi Vijayan has criticised the Centre for its delay in sending a team to assess the crop loss in the recent summer rain.

In a statement here on Sunday, he said the delay in sending a Central team was a reflection of the UPA government’s ineptitude and go slow policy.

Leader of the Opposition Oommen Chandy’s statement that the CPI(M) party Congress under way in Coimbatore had delayed the Central team’s arrival was a futile attempt to hide the UPA government’s negligence and a political lie. He said there was no bar on the Central team making its visit to the State when the party Congress was in session.

The Chief Minister and other Ministers had put pressure on the Prime Minister to depute a Central team to the State preferably at the earliest date. However, the Central government’s stand was that it would be difficult to spare officers who were required to be in station during the closing days of the financial year. Mr. Chandy was making false allegations against the CPI(M) in order to conceal the wrong stand of the UPA government, he said.
