Sheila asked to reconsider suspension order of BJP leaders NEW DELHI: The Leader of Opposition in the Delhi Assembly, Jagdish Mukhi, has written to Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit asking her to reconsider the decision to suspend Bharatiya Janata Party members for three days from the House. Prof. Mukhi said the Government’s move was “undemocratic” as the BJP members were participating in the proceedings of the House and raising issues of public concern. The senior BJP leader said due to the Government-sponsored resolution to suspend them, the Budget was passed without any discussion. Also, on Monday two Bills were scheduled to be tabled in the House and a discussion on sealing was also likely to take place. Prof. Mukhi said with the three-day suspension in place, the BJP would not be able to participate in the important discussions. Further, Prof. Mukhi pointed out that if the Speaker had suspended them it would have been only for a day. Similar actBut with the Government bringing in a resolution for their suspension, the minimum period had to be three days. The Congress Government had acted in a similar manner a couple of years ago, he added.
