“Social boycott” continues

VILLUPURAM: The Social Awareness Society for Youths, a voluntary organisation, has alleged that the caste Christians are socially boycotting the Dalit Christians at Eraiyur ever since the Archdiocese has issued directions to bestow equal rights upon the latter.

In a statement released here V.A. Ramesh Nathan, SASY director, stated that the organisation had appealed to the National Human Rights Commission and the National Commission for Scheduled Castes to take suo motu notice of the happenings at Eraiyur and direct the State government to impose a collective fine by invoking the provisions of the Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of atrocities) Act. — Special Correspondent
