Panel to identify areas which will be included in it, says Chief Minister Hooda

Palwal deserved to be upgraded as a district: Hooda

Thanks Centre for loan waiver for farmers

CHANDIGARH: Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Sunday declared Palwal, a part of Faridabad district, as a new district of the State.

Addressing a well-attended rally at Palwal, Mr.Hooda said that a committee would be constituted to identify the areas which would be included in the new district.

While accepting the demand for creation of a new district raised by local Congress MLA and Haryana Administrative Reforms Commission Chairman Karan Singh Dalal, Mr.Hooda remarked that this demand should have been raised earlier as Palwal deserved to be upgraded as a district because of its glorious past.

Number one State

The Chief Minister reiterated that his priority was to make Haryana the number one State in the country.

While thanking Congress President Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for announcing debt waiver and debt relief for the farmers, Mr.Hooda said that Haryana was the first state in the country to waive off outstanding electricity bills worth Rs.1,600crore and also interest of around Rs. 830 crore on cooperative loans of the farmers.

Power shortage

Admitting that the State has been facing shortage of power, he, however, blamed the previous governments for this situation.

However, with the completion of new power projects in the coming years, he asserted that there would be “assured power supply of 20 to 22 hours daily.”

President of Haryana unit of Congress Phool Chand Mulana, Faridabad MP Avtar Singh Bhadana, Parliamentary Secretary Sharda Rathore, MLA Udai Bhan and AICC member J.P.Nagar also spoke.
