Youth killed as bus hits moped

TIRUNELVELI: A youth was killed and his wife sustained grievous injuries when a bus hit the two-wheeler in which they were travelling on Sunday.

Police said A. Murugan (35) and his wife Thangaponnu (30) of Vallavankottai near Maanur were coming to Tirunelveli in a moped. When they reached Sethuraayanputhur, a speeding bus hit the two-wheeler, injuring the couple.

Though they were rushed to the hospital, Murugan died on the way and Thangaponnu has been admitted for treatment. Maanur police have registered a case.
