Rehabilitation package ready for Madduvalasa evacuees

2,240 families identified for rehabilitation

SRIKAKULAM: A rehabilitation package involving an expenditure of Rs.27 crore for the evacuees of Madduvalasa reservoir project has been finalised by the high-power committee which met here on Sunday.
District Collector Nagulapalli Srikanth, Engineer-in-Chief (medium irrigation) Subrahmanyam, DRDA Project Director T. Baburao Naidu (holding additional charge as joint collector) were present. Officials from the Ground Water Department, who constitute the committee were also present.
The seven villages -- Patuvardhanam, Devikiwada, Chinnadevikiwada, CBR Peta, Nukalavada, Narendrapuram and Gitanapalli -- which were adjacent to the FRL (full reservoir level) comprising nearly 2,240 families were identified for rehabilitation.
The plan would be submitted to the State government.
A committee headed by the Chief Engineer (medium irrigation) had already inspected the Madduvalasa reservoir and identified the villages to be considered for rehabilitation.
