Meet discusses communalism

K.V. Prasad

COIMBATORE: The 19th Congress of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) on Sunday discussed communalism and ways to check the course of the foreign policy being changed to suit the imperialist interests of the U.S.

Polit Bureau member Sitaram Yechury said that there was a strong opinion at the Congress on Sunday that communal forces must be contained to maintain the unity and integrity of the country.

There was also concern that both the major parties (Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party) were subscribing to the neo-liberal policies that sought to make India a strategic ally of the U.S.
