Easy for Jayanagar

Bangalore: Darshan and Vasudev dented the suspect Young Orions defence and with Kaushal finding the hoop from both the flanks, Jayanagar SC romped through to a comfortable 69-49 win in the ‘A’ Division basketball league championship for the Prof. N.C. Parappa memorial trophy at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium courts here on Sunday.

JSC raced to a 21-6 advantage and went onto lead 24-9. In the second, the Sriram-led Young Orions surged while JSC slipped and at halftime it was 38-26 in JSC’s favour.

The promoted side — Young Orions — did make some fine recovery in the last few minutes through Abhishek and Naveen but it was not enough to change the outcome.

Late last night, MEG downed JSC 44-23 in a low scoring match. , with both teams accounting for more misses than conversions.

The results: JSC 69 (Kaushal 20, Vasudev 17) bt Young Orions 49 (Sriram 15, Abhishek 10); MEG 44 (Lloyd Anthony 11) bt JSC 23 (Kaushal 14). — Special Correspondent
