Security of Dera chief enhanced

Chandigarh: In the wake of two attempts on the life of Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, the Haryana Government has decided to provide him with a jammer whenever he appears for a hearing in an Ambala court.

Decision on jammer

The decision to provide the jammer whenever Singh makes an appearance in Ambala court, which is hearing two cases of rape and murder registered against him was taken in view of the attack on his convoy on February 2 in Karnal district when he was returning after a court hearing, official sources said here on Sunday.

Murder cases

Singh’s convoy had also come under attack by a mob near Ghukan Wali village in Sirsa on July 16 last. He is charged in connection with two murder cases and a case of alleged rape of a disciple.

The Dera chief is on the hit list of various radical organisations after he appeared in an advertisement dressed like the tenth Sikh Guru, Gobind Singh.- PTI
