Techies sweat it out at sports meet

Staff Reporter

Bangalore: If you have been led to believe that geeks are all work and no play, here’s something that dispels the computer-fixated nerd image of the techie. The International Tech Park, Bangalore (ITPB) 11th annual sports meet had as many as 1,900 employees, representing over 75 companies, in various indoor and outdoor sporting events. The prestigious title of “Overall Champions” which is given to the company that wins the most number of awards, was won by Affiliated Computer Services (ACS), this year. With more than 145 companies and over 20,000 employees in its campus, the ITPB annual sports meet attracts talent in every kind of sport, providing a platform for companies to showcase their talent. The “Overall Champion” trophy won by ACS is a rolling trophy with a new contender next year. The company had winners in table tennis, throw ball, health and fitness and fun games categories followed by Intertitle and General Motors in the second place. Some of the other participating companies included Ascendas India, Tata Consultancy Services, General Motors, Delphi, Avesthagen and Paprikaas.
