Bangalore
Bangalore: You may not have noticed him but you would have often passed him on the streets. You may not remember his face but you might have seen him standing in the long queues. In fact, he is ubiquitous. He is the common man. Yours Truly Theatre will present Common Man in a complete-the-story interactive theatre style at the Ranga Shankara on Wednesday and Thursday at 7:30 p.m. The social satire, written by Nandini and directed by Ranji and Nandini, is a tribute to the common man and his journey driven by hopes, dreams, aspirations and intentions of being noticed in a society that is oblivious to human emotions. The common man who lives under the shadow of the bomb, carcinogens, illness, unemployment, impotence, fear of fear, blacks, whites, police, income tax, parking tickets and losing money. The format of the performance has evolved out of the Yours Truly Theatre Lab work. In a complete-the-story format, the scripted story stops midway and the audience is invited to intervene, following which the actors complete the ending. Yours Truly Theatre believes in experimentation and is working on developing theatre concepts relevant to today’s world.
