HYDERABAD: Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy will flag off a super-luxury air-conditioned city transport bus named ‘Seetala Hamsa’ on Monday. The service will be run on the 10 H route i.e. from Secunderabad Station to Vanenberg IT Park in Madhapur via Patny, Begumpet, Punjagutta, Jubilee Hills check-post and Madhapur. In a press release, board secretary of the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation A. Nageswara Rao said the bus was passenger-friendly. It was ‘semi-low’ type with two steps, instead of three on other buses, besides having a wider entrance in the middle. The bus will carry 45 sitting and 35 standing passengers. The bus will have clear ‘LED’ destination boards, including stages en route, comfortable fibre-moulded plastic seats with good upholstery. The air suspension in the rear will contribute to a smoother ride. At a function organised by the National Mazdoor Union on Saturday, Vice-Chairman and Managing Director V. Dinesh Reddy indicated that moves were afoot to generate funds by giving away the corporation’s immoveable assets to private parties on the ‘build, operate, transfer’ mode and paying off the Rs. 1,200-crore debt. Once the debt was cleared, Mr. Reddy said, the RTC was considering a public issue to raise about Rs. 2,000 crore to fund its expansion .
