COIMBATORE: Pursuant to the memorandum of agreement signed between Huaihua University, China, and Bharathiar University, the first batch of Chinese students started their courses in English at the latter in January. It was then decided that a maximum of 100 students would be expected to arrive after a memorandum of understanding was signed between the parties during the visit of Vice-Chancellor G. Thiruvasagam’s visit to China in March. But, now, after the visit of the Vice-Chancellor and his team, the strength has risen to 200 and is expected rise even more. “Since the strength has increased for the international students programme, the university has decided to distribute the students to the affiliated colleges. The colleges that will be able to provide the requisite infrastructure in terms of air-conditioned classrooms, hostels and catering facilities were told to respond. Six colleges have been selected to take in students as part of phase I. This will go up to a maximum of 15. More colleges will form part of phase II,” the Vice-Chancellor said. To begin with, courses in MBA, computer science, English literature, dance and music would be offered. ,” Mr. Thiruvasagam said.
