Innovation to the fore at poster expo

PUDUCHERRY: Innovative concepts came to the fore as students of Bharathiar Palkalai Koodam (BPK) exhibited their advertisement skills at an exhibition – “Add-Fest 08”.

The three-day exhibition, inaugurated on Monday, was put up by 12 final year students of Bachelor of Visual Arts-Applied Arts. Prior to this, a three-day camp was held for the students.

“During the camp, we came up with a number of social themes. The students based their posters on these themes,” lecturer of the department E. Mariyappan said.

Playing with both commercial and social issues, the students proved their mettle and creative sense through the posters. The social topics ranged from blood donation, obeying traffic rules, HIV/AIDS awareness, protecting environment to women’s rights and education for children. “We have also come up with imaginative concepts for commercial products such as cell phones, jewels, footwear and clothes,” final year student V. Kalaivani said.

Around 40 posters have found place in the exhibition, inaugurated by BPK principal ‘Sirpi’ M. Jayaraman.
