Youth division of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals completes 2 years

Anniversary offer: Animal lovers can win a Gibson Les Paul guitar by registering on ‘petaDishoom.com’.

NEW DELHI: To celebrate the second anniversary of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals youth division, “petaDishoom”, visitors can log on to its website and register to win a brand new Gibson Les Paul guitar.

As part of the celebration, visitors can also view what their favourite musicians, actors, athletes and other celebrities have to say about being kind to animals in exclusive online interviews. The contest which also features on the vindia website is a joint venture between petaDishoom, Gibson Guitar Corporation and ANECHO, a website that promotes animal rights by showcasing animal-friendly rock bands.

PetaDishoom has over the last two years grown into a force of over 20,000 energetic young people who are raising their voices to challenge cruel, outdated attitudes towards animals.

According to PETA India, thousands of youngsters learned about petaDishoom at top universities across the country including the Indian Institutes of Technology; Indian Institutes of Management; Lady Sri Ram College, Delhi; Sydenham College, Mumbai; St Xavier’s College, Mumbai; and National Law School, Bangalore, among others.

Issues addressed by petaDishoom range from slaughter abuses to animal exploitation for “entertainment” to protection for India’s wild elephants and much more.

Actor and PETA supporter John Abraham aptly summed up petaDishoom’s mission and said: “Speak up for animals and take action to stop animal abuse when you see it. If you don’t who will? You are animals’ only hope.”
