Chitradurga district to have 1,280 polling booths

Chitradurga taluk will have 210 polling stations

The district now has six Assembly constituencies


Chitradurga: After delimitation, Chitradurga district will have 1,280 polling booths in its six Assembly constituencies.

Earlier the district had seven constituencies, including Bharamsagar, and 1,273 polling booths. But after the delimitation of constituencies, Bharamsagar constituency has been wiped off the electoral map.

According to sources in the Election Commission, there are 11,57,144 voters in the district (5,86,515 male voters and 5,70,629 female voters).

Chitradurga taluk will have 210 polling stations for 2,06,387 voters (1,04,637 male and 1,01,750 female).

Hiriyur taluk will have 225 booths for 2,10,462 voters (1,05,871 male and 1,04,591 female).

With 1,79,736 voters (90,648 male and 89,088 female), Challakere will have 204 polling booths.

In Molalkalmur, 195 booths have been set up for 1,92,416 voters (96,879 male and 95,537 female).

As many as 1,67,529 voters (86,192 male and 81,337 female) will exercise their franchise in 200 booths in Hosadurga. Holalkere will have 246 booths for 2,00,614 voters (1,02,288 male and 98,326 female).

After delimitation, Chitradurga taluk (general) will comprise Kasaba, Hireguntur and Chitradurga City Municipal Council areas. Hiriyur (general) will comprise Hiriyur town. Hosadurga (general) constituency will include the entire taluk. Holalkere (reserved for Scheduled Castes) constituency will include Bharamannanayakanadurga, Ramgiri, Talya circle, Holalkere town panchayat and Chitradurga taluk’s Bharamsagar circle. Challakere (reserved for Schedule Tribes) will comprise Kasaba and Parashurampur circle, Challakere Town Municipal Council, Chitradurga taluk and Turuvanur circle.
