Congress dragging its feet on Telangana: Ashok
Correspondent
VIZIANAGARAM: TDP Polit Bureau member P. Ashok Gajapathi Raju has said the Congress lacked policy on Telangana. It spoke of Telangana before the Assembly polls and has now been dragging its feet on the issue. While the BJP was in favour of smaller states, the TDP maintained its stand, he said at the party’s district committee meeting here on Monday. He said that N.T. Rama Rao launched the party for Telugus of ‘Samaikhya Andhra’. He felt that division of States into smaller ones would weaken the nation and “we will not be able to solve problems, if any, together.” Claiming good response to cycle yatra that began at Jiymmavalasa on February 20 and ended at Cheepurupalli on March 5, he said 272 representations pointing out various problems were received from people during the period and added that they were submitted to the Collector for a solution. Party district president Y. Ramana Murty demanded compensation for crops damaged by unseasonal rains and also bank loans to affected farmers. He said the Lead Bank Manager had no information on waiver of farm loans.
Former MLAs and MPs of the party also spoke.
