Bail plea of former Minister rejected

Staff Correspondent

SHIMLA: A local Court here on Monday rejected the bail applications of former Food and Civil Supplies Minster

Singhi Ram, his daughter Upma Kashyap and a former Chairman of School Education Board B.R. Rahi on account of committing forgery and cheating.

Once a blue eyed boy of former Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh and a six time MLA from his erstwhile State of Rampur, Singhi Ram was arrested along with the Education Board Chairman B.R. Rahi, another Congress Government appointee, as soon as they came out of the Court.

District and Session Judge R.L. Raghu refused to grant the bail to all the three after the prosecution counsel sought their remand for custodial interrogation.

The State Vigilance and Anti Corruption Bureau has registered a case against the former Minister and his daughter under section 420, 467, 468, 471 and 120 B of IPC for allegedly obtaining admission by procuring a fake mark sheet.
