JAIPUR: The Rajasthan Government has signed a memorandum of understanding with Sterlite Foundation, Mumbai, and Hindustan Zinc Limited, Udaipur, for providing infrastructure facilities to 400 Anganwadi centres in Udaipur, Chittaurgarh, Bhilwara and Rajsamand districts. The public-private initiative is likely to benefit about 16,000 children with the strengthening of Anganwadi centres in the four tribal-dominated districts. The MoU was signed here on Sunday in the presence of Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje. The two private players will render assistance for improvement of skills of “Asha” assistants and other workers at Anganwadi centres and make arrangements for study material, food and medicines for children. The breakfast to be served to children up to six years of age will comprise additional nutrients. Principal Women and Child Development Secretary Alka Kala signed the MoU on behalf of the State Government, while Sterlite Foundation was represented by Deputy General Manager S. Chamundi and Hindustan Zinc by Chief Executive Officer S.S. Mehta. While Sterlite Foundation has been working for children’s welfare on a no-profit-no-loss basis, Hindustan Zinc has already partnered with the State Government in the fields such as mid-day meal scheme, medical and health camps and self help groups.
