Hooda hikes unemployment allowance

CHANDIGARH: Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Monday announced a substantial increase in the unemployment allowance being paid to the registered unemployed science graduates, post-graduates and those who have 10 + 2 in science stream.

He also announced that all the registered unemployed women in the State, irrespective of the stream, would be given 50 per cent higher unemployment allowance than men.

Giving details, Mr.Hooda said that such unemployed registered candidates who had passed 10 + 2 in science stream would now get Rs.450 per month instead of Rs.300 per month as unemployment allowance.

Similarly, registered unemployed science graduates/post-graduates would get Rs.750 per month instead of Rs.500 earlier.

He said that owing to this increase in the unemployment allowance, the State Exchequer would incur an additional expenditure of approximately Rs.1.70 crore per annum.
