Joseph told to appear in court
Chennai: A court in suburban Alandur here has directed the former Kerala Public Works Minister P.J. Joseph to appear before it in a sexual harassment case.
Judicial Magistrate Ramanathan directed Mr. Joseph to appear on April 29, after the Airport Police, filed a 93-page charge-sheet regarding an allegation of sexual assault.
Earlier, in September 2006, a newsreader of a private television channel had filed a complaint with the police alleging that the Kerala Congress (J) leader had sexually assaulted her on a Kochi-Chennai flight.
Cases under different sections of IPC were filed against Mr. Joseph, who later quit the Ministry.
The Kerala government had also ordered a preliminary inquiry into the incident by IG B. Sandhya who questioned the woman and some co-passengers and flight staff. — PTI
