Mason held for blast on rail track

Krishnagiri: A mason of a private granite quarry was arrested by the Railway police in connection with an explosion on track at Giregepalli near Samalpatti railway station on March 29.
According to M.C. Sarangan, SP, Railway police, Palanichamy, working in the quarry of Mayilarasan of Uthangarai, carried the explosives to the quarry on March 26 for blasting. While returning, some of the unused explosives in his food carrier fell on the track. Even as enforcement agencies tightened their vigil on quarries in the area, Palanichamy confessed before the Samalpatti Village Administrative Officer, who handed him over to the Railway police. A case has been registered.
