New Air Marshal for SAC

Air Marshal Suresh Chand Mukul

Thiruvananthapuram: Air Marshal Suresh Chand Mukul will take charge as Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Air Command, at the command headquarters here on April 1.

Air Marshal S.C. Mukul was commissioned a fighter pilot in the Indian Air Force in January 1972. He has flown almost every combat aircraft in the inventory of the IAF and has over 4,200 hours of flying to his credit.

A graduate of the Defence Services Staff College and an alumnus of the Air War College (USA), Air Marshal Mukul is a ‘qualified flying instructor’ and a ‘fighter combat leader’ from the prestigious Tactics and Combat Development Establishment.

Air Marshal Mukul has held a variety of operational and staff appointments during his career. The operational assignments include command of a frontline fighter squadron, chief operations officer of a fighter base and command of a frontline airbase.

He has functioned as Air Assistant to the Chief of Air Staff and as the Assistant Chief of Air Staff (Operations) at Air Headquarters.

Prior to this assignment, Air Marshal Mukul was the Senior Air Staff Officer at the South Western Air Command of the IAF.
