Delhi-Gurgaon toll rates revised
Staff Reporter
NEW DELHI: The toll for the Delhi-Gurgaon stretch of National Highway-8 has been revised as per the wholesale price index. The new rates will be applicable from April 1 on various categories of vehicles.
While local personal traffic will be granted a 50 per cent discount on the applicable fee for the specified category of vehicle, local commercial traffic will be handed out a 66 per cent waiver.
Smart tags
The authorities have urged commuters to opt for “smart tags” for convenience and for availing themselves of discounts on the applicable toll rates. These smart tags will be available free of charge and no security deposit will be levied. To assist the procurement of “smart tags”, a 12-hour number-- 011-45558777 -- and SMS service – 53030 — is being made available. On receiving an SMS or call, the call centre representative will contact the interested party and deliver the “smart tag” at his doorstep.
The following vehicles will be exempted from payment of any fee: Ambulances, fire tenders and official vehicles transporting and accompanying the President, the Vice-President and the Prime Minister of India. Other vehicles include those carrying Ministers of the Union Government, Governors, Lieutenant-Governors, Chief Ministers, Presiding Officers of Central and State Legislatures will also be exempted from paying toll.
