The district is looking forward to the implementation of this scheme which will impact the rural areas and the district in big way, he added.

Before introduction of the scheme among people, the officials planned to organise an event to plan various activities for implementation of NREGS at field level. They planned for a live demo also.

A pond on the outskirts of Thappukkundu village panchayat in Theni block was chosen for this event on March 26.

Led by the Collector, DRDA project officer, all block development officers, engineers and overseers participated.
