Consumer forum chief wants cases finalised in 90 days

Stone laid for Consumer Forum building

Number of cases on the rise


Tirupati: Justice M.B. Shaw, President of the National Consumer Forum, on Monday urged the consumer courts and Fora to finalise within 90 days the cases coming before them for adjudication.

Speaking after laying the foundation stone for a permanent building to house the Chittoor District Consumer Forum-2, Justice Shaw said that consumer courts have won immense credibility of the public. He pointed out that even the Apex Court and the High Courts were highly appreciative of the verdicts being delivered by the consumer courts/fora to the satisfaction of the affected consumers.

Member of the National Consumer Forum M. Rajyalakshma Rao expressed pleasure that the consumers in the country were now highly motivated and sensitised towards their rights and said the very fact that the number of cases coming up before the consumer courts/fora bore amble testimony to the fact.

The complex is being constructed at a cost of Rs.41 lakhs and is expected to be ready in .in six months. President of the AP Consumer Forum D. Appa Rao, Engineer-In-Chief of the APIIC, Manjan Rao, District Judge, Chittoor, Durga Prasad and President of the Tirupati Consumer Forum-2, G.V. Raghavulu were present.
