I have been subscribing SIFY broadband facility for the past three months at a monthly payment of Rs.230. The renewal of the account every month has become a tedious job as I have to make a number of phone calls before the date of expiry. The customer care personnel too are not responding. If I discontinue the service, then I will loose the non-refundable deposit of Rs.2500. It would be better if a an arrangement for renewal is made online. In response to a SMS I was asked to contact www.sifymall.com. But the site is not accessible. I get only 15 days of internet connectivity out of 30 days and the complaints to the local representative at srirangam has not yielded any result. I have no other go but to move the consumer court Rajalakshmi Madhavan, Srirangam. Mini-buses, share autos to ThillainagarRecently I read in this column about an appeal to Transport Minister. I would like to bring to the Minister’s notice that there is no night service via Thillainagar and also point out if buses are operated this route that there will not be any patronage since the area becomes silent from 10 p.m. up to 5 a.m. Hence, mini-buses can be introduced at least up to Khadi Bhavan complex on an experimental basis. Share autos may also be allowed to run for every half an hour. As an MLA of this city and also the Transport Minister, he certainly can issue necessary orders to the authorities concerned which will be helpful to the middle class people. Aslam Pasha, Thillainagar. Quick actionThe prompt publication my letter under caption ‘Lack of sign board’ in this column on 4th March 2008 was very effective. I consciously appreciate the Corporation authorities for taking speedy action in painting the speed breakers on Williams Road. N. Krishnan, Williams Road. Congestion on Nandikoil StreetNandikoil Street is becoming congested with fruit vendors blocking the commuters’ path for selling jackfruit and grapes. Now the street is the only place for parking cars and vans. I request the authorities concerned to take necessary action at the earliest. K. Venkatesan, Rockfort Agraharam. Delivery of Registered PostThe Registered Post/parcel booked on February 28, 2008 did not reach the destination at Nasik. While the private couriers are properly despatching the parcel within a few days, it is a pity that the Indian Postal Department could not do the same. Ansar, K.K. Nagar. Raw rice in PDS shopsRaw rice supply has almost stopped in PDS shops for the past several months. The shop-keeper claims that he gets about 10 bags of raw rice once in a way which gets exhausted in an hour. Consumers who are used to raw rice only are put to a lot of inconvenience. In fact, it should be easier for them to supply raw rice when compared to the other variety where additional labour of boiling and drying is involved. It is, therefore, surprising as to why a portion of the card holders should be denied this facility. In effect PDS craves for an urgent remedial treatment. Dalmiapuram Ganesan, Srirangam.
