Welcomed

Bangalore: The Federation of Karnataka chambers of Commerce and Industry (FKCCI) has welcomed the government’s decision to continue exemption from VAT on paddy, rice, wheat, pulses, flour, maida and soji up to March 31, 2009. It also welcomed the reduction in the VAT rate on batteries sold to the Indian Railways. The FKCCI submitted a memorandum to the Government asking it to consider introducing a “Karsamadhana” scheme for paying commercial tax arrears without penalty for a period of two months after the announcement of scheme. — Special Correspondent
