Parents allege that Shivajiraja is neglecting them at the behest of his in-laws I owe my success in film industry to my friends, says the actor HYDERABAD: Film actor G. Shivajiraja’s parents moved a local court seeking maintenance from him. K. Shanti Sri, the counsel for the actor’s parents - G. Rama Raju and Chandravati - told The Hindu that the petition was filed in the family court on March 24 and the notice was served to the actor five days later. Hailing from Bheemavaram of West Godavari district, Mr. Raju used to work as driver in DNR college, there. The advocate said that Mr. Raju had sold off his land and house to bring up his son Shivajiraja. “For his studies in Hyderabad and Chennai and when he was desperate to secure a career in film industry, they spent lot of money,” the advocate said. According to the advocate, the film actor stopped looking after his aged parents and did not give any money to them for the past two months. Since they had none to look after them, the old couple moved the court seeking maintenance, Ms. Shanti Sri said. The actor’s parents charged that their son had neglected them because of the influence of his in-laws. Reacting to the charge, Mr. Shivajiraja said that he had high regard for his parents but their contribution to his position in film industry was negligible. “I owe my success in film industry to my friends. We had no properties and so the question of my parents selling them for my career doesn’t arise,” he said.
