Court grants time to State in bandh case

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Monday granted four weeks to the Tamil Nadu government, Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi, Chief Secretary L.K. Tripathy and two others to file their response on a contempt petition filed by the AIADMK for allegedly violating the court’s order prohibiting the enforcement of bandh in the State on October 1, 2007.
A Bench of Justice B.N. Agrawal and Justice G.S. Singhvi also granted time to Union Minister T.R. Baalu, who was issued a contempt notice for his alleged remarks criticising the judiciary.
