Centre clears housing projects for State

NEW DELHI: The Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation has approved housing projects worth Rs. 750 crore for Karnataka under the Basic Services to the Urban Poor (BSUP) scheme and the Integrated Housing and Slum Development Programme (IHSDP).
Under the BSUP scheme, seven projects would be taken up in Bangalore and Mysore, which would provide 21,846 new dwelling units, while under the IHSDP programme, 25 projects would be taken up, which would result in the construction of 13,053 new dwelling units for the poor in other cities and towns .
The projects under BSUP Scheme would cost Rs. 510.27 crore, while those under the IHSDP Rs. 240.27 crore. The Centre would provide Rs. 272.97 crore for the projects under the BSUP scheme and Rs. 145.76 crore for the projects under IHSDP.
