Bhutia pulls out of torch run

KOLKATA: Indian soccer ace Baichung Bhutia on Monday pulled out of the Olympic torch run in protest against China’s “crackdown on Tibetan protesters.”

Though the Indian football team could not qualify for Beijing Olympics, the Indian captain felt that his declining to participate in the torch run would be the best way to protest. “It is for the Tibetan cause,” he told The Hindu.
