Voter identity cards by July 31
NEW DELHI: All voter identity cards would be prepared by July 31, Industries Minister Mangat Ram Singhal announced in the Delhi Assembly on Monday. He also declared that people issued red slips by the election department upon house verification would be provided with identity cards. Mr. Singhal said these centres have been opened in all Assembly segments barring three. The Minister assured that the names of residents missing from the lists would be added and the cards would be prepared on time by an agency engaged for the purpose. To a query by Hastsal MLA Mukesh Sharma on whether the cards would bear the names of the new Assembly constituencies as per the delimitation, the Minister said no direction has been received from the Election Commission of India on this issue.
