NEW DELHI: Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee president D. Srinivas on Tuesday reiterated his call to all those who had an electoral understanding with his party in the 2004 elections to bury their differences and fight the next polls together. Briefing mediapersons here after meeting the top brass of the Congress, Mr. Srinivas said his invitation was based on his belief that friendships are forever. “My priority is to bring friends of the past together in an election year,” he said, adding that this was only an invitation and it was for each party to take a decision for itself. About the Telengana Rashtra Samiti’s criticism of his call to return to the 2004 alliance, the new PCC president said it was for them to take a decision. “They are under no compulsion. I aired a view, they are free to decide.” uring the day, Mr. Srinivas met Congress president Sonia Gandhi, External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee, Defence Minister A. K. Antony, Ms. Gandhi’s political secretary Ahmed Patel, Congress Working Committee member in-charge of Andhra Pradesh Veerappa Moily and Lok Sabha member Rahul Gandhi. Hyderabad Special Correspondent adds: Mr Srinivas when contacted said that the Congress will field candidates for the bypolls to the 16 seats vacated by the TRS.
