Train linkage to Tirupati likely by July
Staff Reporter
ADILABAD: The first of April turned out to a disappointment of sorts for people in Adilabad who had eagerly waited for train linkage to the temple town of Tirupati. The extension of Krishna Express to Adilabad now seems to be likely only at the beginning of July when the new railway time table comes into force and not in April as was believed here.
According to sources a meeting at Secunderabad head quarters of South Central Railway will be held sometime this week to chalk out the new time table that will include timings for new and extended trains. “New trains are usually introduced when the new time table comes into force,” pointed out a source in railways.
The Krishna Express will also need an additional rake when the extension goes operational. It has been proposed to run a passenger shuttle daily between Adilabad and Nanded towns as one of thee three rakes of Krishna Express will be idle during day time at Adilabad station. The proposal is for the train to depart at 9 am from Adilabad and 2 p.m in the reverse direction. The shuttle service is likely to commence only when the extension becomes a reality.
