Cuddalore
CUDDALORE: The Cuddalore Municipality has deferred the proposal to revise property tax. A decision in this regard was taken at the council meeting presided by chairman T. Thangarasu on Monday. The chairman observed that as some of the councillors had pointed out Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi’s statement that depending upon the revenue status the civic bodies could go for property tax revision, the council had decided to defer the revision. Mr. Thangarasu also said that soon the dilapidated shops in the main bus stand complex would be pulled down. Vice-chairman Thamarai Selvan observed that during rush hour, the heavy vehicles coming from Puducherry should be diverted through Semmandalam instead of entering the town. Commissioner Liaqath Ahmed Papa and officials participated.
