Handicrafts expo gets under way

Staff Reporter

Kakinada: Hyderabad-based Jivan Jyothi Rural Development Society is organizing a handicrafts and textiles exhibition at Pynda Chalamaiah Srinivasa Kalyanamandapam here to promote products made by its artisans.

Mayor K Saroja inaugurated the exhibition and said such events would help in making people aware of the richness of handicrafts and hand-made garments which are cost-effective and have equally good looks as the modern day material.

Society secretary AK Jaiswal said similar exhibitions were recently held at Mumbai, Mysore, Visakhapatnam, Warangal and some other important cities within and outside the State.

The exhibition will be on up to April 13. Pochampalli bed sheets, Mangalagiri dress materials, Kalamkari designs, Narsapur laces and a wide variety of other artistic products are on display.
