Road safety awards announced

Thiruvananthapuram: S. Anil Radhakrishnan, Principal Correspondent, The Hindu, Thiruvananthapuram, has been selected for the Road Safety Award 2007, instituted by the Alcohol and Drug Information Centre (ADIC)-India Road Safety Alliance, for highlighting various road safety issues through media reports. The other recipients of the award include Additional Director-General of Police Jacob Punnoose (visionary); former Chairman, Railway Board, M.N. Prasad (activist); Chief Coordinator of NATPAC Mahesh Chand (research); Thiruvananthapuram city traffic police (public awareness); and The New Indian Express, Thiruvananthapuram (social responsibility). The awards will be presented by Transport Minister Mathew T. Thomas here on April 9. — Special Correspondent
