Scheme to be kicked off on April 9

7,27,268 white card-holders in Karimnagar district to benefit Scheme to be launched through 1,987 FPS in district
KARIMNAGAR: The stage is all set for launching of Rs. 2-a-kg rice scheme through 1,987 fair price shops in Karimnagar district on April 9.
A total of 7,27,268 white card-holders in the district will benefit by the scheme.
Various schemes
On the other hand, there are 68,515 Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) scheme and another 2,624 Annapurna scheme cards in the district.
All the card-holders will get rice at Rs. 2-a-kg only from April 9 onwards.
Collector Sandeep Kumar Sultania reviewed the distribution of rice under the scheme with district officials on Tuesday and instructed them to take all measures for supply of rice to all beneficiaries.
Rice distribution
He said that about 15,000 tonnes of rice would be distributed to the poor every month at Rs 2-a-kg by providing a subsidy of Rs. 7 crore per month.
Officials instructed
Mr. Sandeep Kumar Sultania instructed the officials to take steps for providing the required quantity of rice by April 6 at all the stock points in the district.
The Collector also told them to erect banners during the launch of the rice scheme in front of all fair price shops.
