Held on charge of ‘hoarding’ crackers

GUNTUR: Ponnur police have arrested a man and charged him with hoarding explosives at a residential area. Police seized a huge cache of fire crackers stacked in 104 gunny bags.

According to Ponnur Sub Inspector Balasubramaniyam, the accused Vasireddy Koteswara Rao (50) has been in the business of manufacturing fire crackers at Chebrolu and Ponnur without any licence.

On Tuesday, based on information, police raided his house on the Etikoppuru road in Old Ponnur and seized the fire crackers.
