TV expose: NHRC asks Centre for CBI probe

New Delhi: The National Human Rights Commission has directed the Centre to order a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation into the authenticity of the tapes of the sting operation telecast by the Hindi news channel, Aaj Tak, under the caption ‘Operation Kalank’ relating to the Gujarat riots.

Taking suo motu cognisance of the telecast on October 25, 2007, the Commission, headed by its chairperson, Justice S. Rajendra Babu, asked the Centre to communicate in four weeks its concurrence to lend the CBI’s services.
