The Chatrinaka police on Tuesday arrested a teenager Mohd. Hyder, who allegedly raped a six-year-old girl two days ago, at Chatrinaka. Hyder lured the girl to his house at GM Chawni offering chocolates to her on Saturday, the Chatrinaka Inspector Venkataramana said. She was alone then. He later violated her but the girl did not disclose about the incident to her mother Noorjahan Begum, a widow who works as maid, out of fear, the Inspector explained. The sexual assault came to light when Begum took her daughter ,who fell sick, to a doctor for examination on Tuesday. The police picked up Hyder late in the night. Engineering student commits ‘suicide’An engineering student Sravan Kumar, 21, committed suicide by hanging in his house at Gowlipura Market, the Moghalpura police said on Tuesday. Kumar was studying in a private college. He reportedly failed in some exams and was in depression of late. Kumar’s father used to run a hotel at Gowlipura Market. On Monday, all of Kumar’s family members went to a temple in Medak district. The youngster went to his house after closing the hotel on Monday night. The hotel workers came to his house on Tuesday morning. They grew suspicious as he did not respond to repeated knocks on the doors and peeped through the window only to see his body hanging from the ceiling fan. Jewellery stolenThieves took away gold ornaments weighing 400 grams from a flat at Jawaharnagar in Chikkadpally during daytime on Tuesday. The house owner L.V. Subrahmanyam, an auditor, was away at his office while his wife went out on some work around 1 p.m. The offenders opened the lock of the main door using a false key and took away the jewellery from the almirah. The auditor’s daughter returned home three hours later and found the property stolen. Three held for selling old stamp papersThree persons, who were allegedly selling old stamp papers to litigants for making false property documents, were arrested by the city police on Monday. The arrested persons, Shaik Hayath Ahmed, 29, businessman, Ghouse Mohiuddin, 36, typist, and Mohd. Zakir, 40, assistant to a notary, procured old stamp papers. They used to sell the same to litigants at exorbitant prices.
